i was having a conversation with a friend on msn this morning about how limited our horizons are and how sheltered we are. he told me that he gets excited whenever he manages to find someone who is willing to discuss current affairs with him. and i was left wondering why my peers are often reluctant to talk about such topics.
maybe it's the way we've been taught in school from young. the fear we face whenever we touch sensitive political topics that the police will come knocking on our door. the way they teach us to just accept what the government tells us to do.
this trip to the States has opened my eyes to many things. to how sheltered Singaporeans are, how insignificant we are on the world stage, how superficial our knowledge of the world is and list goes on and on.
and this often leaves me thinking why my parents picked Singapore of all places. i understand their concerns to move out of hk. but why singapore. and why not move back. and i can only say that 18 years in this place is enough. i want to go somewhere else. or to move back. only if things were this simple. the complicated past.
i don't want to go home yet. time here passes too quickly. but it's back to mugging again for now. i haven't used that words in ages man. MUG! international fin test tmr.
